San Jose Earthquakes vs Colorado Rapids 1-1
San Jose played at home for the first time in two months, but couldn’t take advantage of it. Ryan Johnson scored the first goal in the match the 62nd minute by a header. But the Earthquakes couldn’t hold onto the lead, when eight minutes later the Rapids’ Conor Casey scored the equalizer in the 70th minute. The prospect of not winning again was too much for the Earthquakes coach Frank Yallop, who was given a red card for verbally abusing the referee and had to leave the field.
Chicago Fire vs Toronto FC 2-1
Chicago Fire beat Toronto FC and ended a five game win-less streak. Chicago opened the score in the fourth minute, but Toronto’s Abdus Ibrahim equalized in the 63rd minute. When it looked like the game would end in a draw, Chicago’s John Torrington slipped one under Toronto’s goalie, Sutton, in the 92nd minute giving Chicago that much sought after win.
Real Salt Lake vs Columbus Crew 2-0
Real Salt Lake won the match against Columbus Crew propelling them to the top of the Western Conference standings. Scoring began early when Argentine midfielder Javier Morales scored in the fourth minute. Robbie Findley’s goal into an empty net in the 78th minute secured the victory for Salt Lake.
Kansas City Wizards vs New York Red Bulls 2-1
The Wizards’ Jimmy Conrad opened the score for the Wizards in the 11th minute and his teammate Davy Arnaud added another in the 47th minute. The Bulls’ only response was a power-shot from Juan Pablo Angel from 10 yards out.
Chivas USA vs LA Galaxy 1-1
No winner in the Super Classico as they met for the second time this season. Chivas had a better opening and scored the first goal by Ante Razov in the 15th minute. LA Galaxy shined brighter in the second half which resulted in their goal by Edson Buddle, who put one in between the legs of Chivas’ goalie Brad Guzan, leveling the game in the72nd minute.
