Is Real Without Ronaldo Only Half a Team?

Round up of major European Leagues: October 4

Premier League

In the match of the week Chelsea beat Liverpool and that moved them to the top of the standings. Second half goals from Nicolas Anelka and Florent Malouda secured the 2-0 win.

Liverpool is now trialing the leader Chelsea by six points.

Manchester United was close to losing with Sunderland at home. Only Sunderland’s Anton Ferdinand (brother of Rio Ferdinand) own goal in injury time gave Man Utd the win.

The Gunners trashed Blackburn by a score of 6-2 on Sunday afternoon. Arsenal’s six goals was scored by six different players. The scoring started in the 17th minute by Vermaelen and closed with Bendtner’s power shot from 20 yards in the 89th minute.

Portsmouth finally won after seven losses in row. Their well deserved victory come on an away match against Wolverhampton.

Serie A

Juventus came to Palermo to win and move to the top of the standings but instead went home beaten. Palermo won 2-0 on goals from Edison Cavani and Fabio Simlicio.

Sampdoria who was at lead of Serie A once, only draw at home with newly promoted Parma 1-1.

Inter beat Udinese 2-1 on a last minute goal from Wesley Sneijder .

Their city rival AC drew 1-1 with at Atalanta. Second half substitute Ronaldino scored their only goal in the 83rd minute.

Ligue 1

Lyon is in the top of the table after beating Lens 2-0. Kim Kallstrom and Sidney Govou’s goals made that happen.

Bottom of the standings Grenoble lost for the eighth time in a row, having zero points.

Monaco handed  a shocking 2-1 defeat to Marseille on their home field.

Bordeaux also suffered a loss, their first this season by a score of 3-1 against St Etienne.

Primera Liga

Real Madrid who was without injured Cristiano Ronaldo ended their unbeaten streak after they lost 2-1 to Sevilla. Real was sub par at best while Sevilla recorded their fifth win in row.

Barcelona won their matches but their performance wasn’t superb either. The only goal of the match was scored by teenager Pedrito in the 31st minute.

Struggling Atletico Madrid won their first match of the season by beating visiting Real Zaragoza 2-1.

Bundesliga

Last season’s title contender Hertha Berlin lost another match this time against Hamburg SV. Berlin has won only one match so far this season, sitting at the bottom of the Bundesliga standings.

Werder Bremen is in fourth place now, with a 2-0 win against Stuttgart.

Bayern Munich keeps the struggle alive after only a goalless draw at home against Cologne.

Meanwhile Schalke 04 beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-0 on Friday and moved to third place in the standings.
