Czech Republic versus Turkey

Geneva Stadium saw an unbelievable comeback by the Turkish team, who was down 2-0 with only 15 minutes left in the match. The Czechs opened the match with attacking style and Jan Koller scored the first goal in the 34th minute from a header. Turks looked passive and were defending most of the time. In the second half unfortunately for the Czechs it was different ballgame. The Turkish team put them under constant pressure, but the Czechs somehow managed to score their second goal , leading 2-0 . Than Turkey staged a comeback scoring three goals within 15 minutes. First Arda Turan scored in the 75th minute, than captain Nihat Kahveci tied it off and added the winning goal in the 88th minute. The Czech team lost a won match and are going home, while Turkey will face Croatia in the quarterfinals.

Switzerland-Portugal

Host country Switzerland was already eliminated from EURO 2008 and was playing for pride only when they beat Portugal by a score of 2-0. Portugal’s coach Fellipe Scolari rested most of the regular players and fielded eight substitutes. Switzerland’s Hakan Yakin scored both goals , first in the 71st minute and the second one from penalty kick in the 83rd minute. Portugal will have to wait till tomorrow to find out whom they will face in the quarterfinals, out of Germany, Austria or Poland.
