Eight Goal Thriller At Arsenal-Tottenham Derby

Premier League Matchday 10

Emirates Stadium witnessed North London derby thriller on Wednesday night when Tottenham staged a late come back. Tottenham opened the match in attacking fashion scoring their first goal after ten minutes.  Arsenal answered back in the 36th minute with a goal from Silvestre, then Gallas put Arsenal ahead in the opening minutes of the second half. With a few minutes to go and  Arsenal leading 4-2 it looked like Tottenham would go home without points. But not this time. Spurs’ Jenas made it 4-3 with a minute to go in regular time and Lennon leveled the match on 4-4 in injury time. Tottenham’s coach Harry Redknapp couldn’t ask for a better start with his new team by capturing a valuable point with Arsenal.

Chelsea ended Hull’s four match winning streak by beating the newcomer 3-0. Frank Lampard, Nicholas Anelka and Florent Malouda were the scorers. Hull battled hard but Chelsea was too much for them. Surprise of this season was Hull occupying the fifth spot with 20 points from 10 matches.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s double handed West Ham their fourth loss in a row. Both coaches made several changes to their starting squad. Carlos Tevez was a starter for Man Utd alongside with Anderson and Nani. West Ham coach Gianfranco Zola fielded Matthew Etherington and Valon Behrami, who later left on a stretcher fearing a knee injury. Ronaldo who scored both goals before the half time, rising to coach Ferguson’s challenge to score 25 goals this season.

It took a second half penalty to give Liverpool the win at home against Portsmouth. Steven Gerrard was the executor in the 75th minute. Expectations were high after Sunday’s win with Chelsea and Liverpool came through. Pompey’s new coach Tony Adams should be happy with his team performance despite the loss. Liverpool’s win gave them a three point lead over second Chelsea, while Portsmouth remains in seventh place. Premier League’s standings after October 29 matches….read more
