Eduardo Out For At Least Six Months
Arsenal striker Eduardo who is recovering after surgery in London, said on Sunday that he doesn’t remember much of the terrible tackle. He said “I don’t remember the incident very well and it is not something that I want to see again on TV or in the newspaper.” Eduardo will be out for at least six months, missing the rest of the EPL season and the UERO 2008 this summer.
Japan’s club Gamba Osaka won the inaugural Pan-Pacific Championship in Hawaii, trashing Dynamo Houston by a score of 6:1. A crowd of 23,000 strong saw Brazilian striker Bare single handedly beating Dynamo by scoring four out of six goals. In the game for third place earlier that day, LA Galaxy beat Sydney FC 2:1 on goals from Ely Allen and Josh Tudela in the first half of the game.
Tottenham won the League Cup also known as the Curling Cup by beating Chelsea 2:1. Chelsea opened the score by Didier Drogba in the 39th minute. Totenham tied from a penalty in 70th minute by Berbatov. The winning goal came in extra time when Jonathan Woodgate headed one in at the 94th minute.
Marco Van Basten is taking over this summer as new head coach of Ajax Amsterdam and that means that Ajax captain Edgard Davids will most likely retire. He already said that he doesn’t intend to play under Van Basten , since these two clashed back in 2006. Davids wrote an open letter to Van Basten back then attacking his decision to leave him out of the Dutch national team for World Cup 2006.
Another game and another loss for Real Madrid. After losing to AS Roma on Tuesday in Champions League they lost to Getafe at home in Primera Liga. The only goal came from an almost comical situation. What happened was Madrid’s Arjen Roben scored but the goal was ruled out. While Real Madrid players were wondering what happened, Getafe raced to the other end and scored the winning goal. It was the stuff of movies.
The final of the Australian A-League witnessed an attack on the referee by Central Coast Mariners goalie Danny Vukovic. He was protesting what he thought was a hand ball by Newcastle Jets player and apparently slapped the referee Mark Shield. He was found guilty today and will be suspended for 15 months.
