In a tough, sometimes violent game Gremio advanced to the Copa Libertadores finals to await the outcome of todays Boca-Cacuto game in Buenos Aires. Although Santos defeated Gremio last night in front of their supporters, Gremio advanced due to their home-away goal diferential. The game lacked the luster of a Brazilian “classic” with tempers flaring and a lack of the “jugo bonito” we’ve come to expect from the Brazilians. After falling behind on the scoreboard, Santos moved their lines forward to take control of the game. They manage 3 scores but in the end if was not enough to put them through to the finals.
