Bayern Munich on The Verge of Elimination

Champions League Round up: November 3

Manchester United 3 – 3 CSKA Moscow

Manchester started without several key players and CSKA took full advantage of it. The Russian team opened the score in the 25th minute by Alan Dzagoev.

Michael Owen put his team on score-board four minutes later. But the visitors went to the locker-room in half-time with a lead after Milos Krasnic made it 2-1.

The second half saw an another goal by the Russians when a free kick went past Van der Sar.

Ferguson decided he saw enough and sent Rooney, Evra and Obertan on as a substitutes. That changed the flow of the match and Paul Scholes headed one in with six minutes to go.

United’s unbeaten record since February 2005 stayed intact when Georgy Shennikov own goal ended the match in 3-3 draw.

This means that Manchester is among several teams who reached the round of last 16.

Bayern Munich 0 – 2 Bordeaux

Bayern’s loss at home put them on the verge of elimination in their group.

Bordeaux capitalized on Bayern’s failure to convert their chances and took the lead from Yoann Gourcuff free-kick in the 37th minute.

Fernando’s goal into an empty net was created by a misunderstanding between goalie Hans-Jörg Butt defender, Holger Badstuber.

The loss put  Bayern’s coach Louis Van Gaalmore under more pressure since Bayern is also  having a lacklustre season in Bundesliga so far.

The Bordeaux win moves them into the  next round of Champions League.

AC Milan 1 – 1 Real Madrid

Milan won two week’s in Madrid but tonight at home they only managed a 1-1 tie with Ronaldo-less Real.

Karim Benzema who was a part of the 300 million dollars spending spree this past summer gave Madrid the lead. Milan leveled six minutes later from a penalty kick. Pepe brought down Gianluca Zambrotta and Ronaldinho scored without hesitation.

Ronaldinho seems to be once again enjoying the game and having his trade mark smile back.

Both teams produced a high tempo match with several goal chances on both sides, but at the end 1-1 is more than a fair result.

Real leads Group C on goal difference ahead of Milan and Marseille who got a point less then the leaders.
